Venture
I was contacted by the owners of Venture, a stationery store on New York’s Upper East Side, to redesign their logo.
The store has been around since 1972, right when the owners had immigrated to the United States. They had started it as a tobacco and candy shop, and kept building it from the ground up, until it grew into an establishment that specialized in goods such as stationery, gourmet chocolate, and luggage. We all wanted to preserve the store’s rich history in its logo, while giving it a refreshed, less dated look.

This was the way it initially looked:
We all agreed that the typeface had a nice, vintage appeal to it, but that some minor details could be updated. After experimenting with lots of graphics, we eventually decided to keep the logo simple and purely text-based, with a focus on the fact that it has been around since the 1970s.
